Since this website is brand new, I'm going to start by posting a little bit about our past events. To begin with: this is the article that was in the Midland Daily News when Roger and Pam opened the restaurant in 2013. We've come a long way baby!
"Sanford Pizza again open for business
for the Daily News
After more than a year of being closed, Sanford Pizza opened May 3 under new ownership. Roger and Pam Riggie of rural Sanford have spent the last 14 and 17 years, respectively, as independent home health care workers.
“We have cut back to just caring for two people and will continue to do that. But, we wanted something different at this stage in our lives,” Pam said. “We kept driving past the restaurant and saying to ourselves, ‘Why not?’ and then we just contacted a Realtor and did it.”
Sanford Pizza is a family effort. Roger Jr. and wife Pam carry the major responsibility for the restaurant but Roger Sr. and wife Becky are in it, too. Sons Josh and Jordan Hanson and their wives Chelsea and Selena are also active in the project. Pam’s brother, Jeff Martin, will be taking part of the load, too.
Another silent participant is Grandma Hanson, Josh and Jordan’s grandmother. It’s her sauce recipe which is used in each pizza. The recipe has been in the family for more than 50 years. The Riggies also kept a bit of the former owners in the new restaurant — the signature pizza dough.
The restaurant serves a variety of pizzas as well as build your own. In addition, calzones, hot hoagies and bread sticks are on the menu.
Until Memorial Day, Sanford Pizza will be open daily from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. After Memorial Day, the restaurant will be open Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The number for the restaurant is (989) 697-4992."
There are several events we participate in through the year, and this is the place where I will post pictures and commentary. It should be a lot of fun, so check back every now and again to see what's new at Sanford Pizza!
